Olympic Swimmer Michael Phelps Arrested for DUI
Michael Phelps, best known as the most decorated Olympic champion in all of history, was arrested for a DUI this past Tuesday, September 30th.
According to Baltimore police, as reported by the Las Vegas Review Journal, Phelps had been driving above the posted speed limit in a Baltimore Maryland tunnel, and he was also swerving over the double-lane traffic lines.
Michael Phelps was pulled over in his 2014 Land Rover at approximately 1:40 a.m. after being clocked at 84 miles per hour in a 45 mile per hour speed zone. Phelps was found by authorities to be “unable to perform satisfactorily a series of standard field sobriety tests.”
Despite his 22 Olympic medals and golden-boy “All American aura” even super-sport-star Phelps is not exempt from following the law. To note: this is the second DUI arrest for Phelps. Back in 2004, Phelps was charged for a DUI when he was just 19 years old. He was able to plead guilty for a lesser charge and received a period of probation, rather than a hefty DUI Charge.
