Katherine Nicole Rees was stripped of her Miss Neavda USA title back when scandalous photos were found of her in a Florida Nightclub. Now, she faces even more serious scrutiny, as she has been charged withe four Criminal Felony Charges in Nevada: trafficking in a controlled substance, sale of a controlled substance, and two counts of conspiracy to violate the uniform controlled substances act.
Rees was found with 5.3 grams of methamphetamine about a month after she told an undercover police officer to contact her if he ever needed the drug.
According to the RJ, Katherine’s defense attorney, Warren Geller, suggested that a police informant who Rees already knew had been contacting her repeatedly about meth.
“From our perspective this looks like a circumstance where it‘s the government actually creating crime by continually needling someone and trying to encourage them to engage in this behavior,” Geller is reported to have said.
Should Rees make her $10,000 bail, she must agree to submit to weekly drug tests.
Rees has a record of international “close calls” and run-ins with drugs, so this entire ordeal is not completely out of the blue. Nevertheless, it is sad to see another Las Vegas youth’s life getting ruined by illegal drug use.
